Business Planning - An Investor's Perspective Print E-mail

Participants from various Process Industry companies and SMEs enjoyed learning about Business Planning from the eyes of the investors and how to develop a short but convincing pitch which encourages further dialogue.

A fascinating insight into the early stage development of a new technology business was given by Dennis Hettema OP3 on his business linked to photo recognition barcodes.  www.shotcode.com . Janet Ryan from Cabot Corporation helped the group build up the three main financial statements from an initial starting point of a business and then how large corporations view investments and returns.

Participants had three opportunities to further develop their plans and clarify the value opportunity for investors both internal and external. The final act was to present these in a Dragon’s Den to other participants and receive honest feedback on the proposition and their style.

“The course was a good introduction to the thinking of investors and an excellent personal training due to the repeated improvement of my own performance” Said Radek Cechovic from the Czech Republic.  “Excellent content, good practice in pitching and more clear ideas of what actually is needed to be gotton across to financiers.” Said Andrew Donelan from the Irish Republic.
