The European Institute for Industrial Leadership (EIIL) is a not-for-profit membership organisation dedicated to developing future leaders of technology-led and manufacturing industry in Europe.

Established in 2003 by senior industrialists and members of the engineering profession, the EIIL is committed to the continued professional development of engineers and technical professionals and to encouraging more into the profession.

Our Beliefs

We believe that many of Europe’s brightest and most talented technical graduates find themselves constrained within their chosen profession and are therefore failing to realise their full potential.

We believe that more emphasis could be placed on developing the leadership skills of these valuable and talented individuals to allow them to take on the leadership roles for which they are often ideally qualified and experienced.

But we also believe that the decline in entrants to engineering and science degree courses across Europe is a concern; that if today’s high potential young engineer, or technical professional, does become the leader of tomorrow then there is a real danger that he might not have a sufficient pool of European talent from which to recruit his followers.

We believe this will have a significant negative impact on the competitiveness of European industry.

We therefore believe that today’s current and future leaders must take the responsibility for working with each stage of the supply chain for eningeers and technical professionals in order to assure a sustainable future supply.

Our Goals

To serve the European engineering, technology and manufacturing industries and partners by:

  • improving the business leadership qualities of engineers, technologists and scientists through the provision and promotion of targetted business education and leadership skills training
  • offering an independent research, development and consulting organisation providing unique combinations of business, technical and social knowledge and experience
  • maintaining a professional network committed to improving the competitiveness of European industry
  • working to assure the supply of future industry leaders by encouraging the sharing of industry best practices in the attraction, recruitment, development and retention of engineers, scientists and technical professionals.

Our Commitment

We are committed to guiding and encouraging members and participants to apply their knowledge and capabilities in the technology-led industries to revitalise the wealth-creating sector of the European economy.
